The 101st Weld County Fair is fast approaching and will provide a week of fun free events, exhibitions, and activities. The fair kicks off on Thursday, July 25, with events through Sunday, July 28. The fair concludes with the Junior Livestock Show on July 29, at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley.
“The fair is a time-honored event in Weld County,” Commissioner Chair Barbara Kirkmeyer said. “It highlights the best of Weld County’s agricultural roots and demonstrates the strong presence agriculture continues to have.”
The fair has fostered a fun, family experience for more than 100 years, and this year is no exception. With open class events for adults to participate in, youth showcasing projects in agriculture, natural resources, engineering, home economics, fine art, and more, as well as fun activities such as wagon rides, the Rocky Mountain Raptors display, a giant sandpile, and several livestock shows to watch, the Weld County Fair is an event not to be missed.
Enjoy a free pancake breakfast on Thursday, July 25. Watch Open Team Roping, a garden tractor pull, or children try to catch a rabbit in the Rabbit Catch-It Event. Throughout the week, more than 40 vendors will be selling great food, jewelry, western wear, and much more. A hot air balloon lift will take place on Saturday, July 27 (weather permitting). Cap off the week by attending the Vette Fest Corvette Car Show on Sunday, July 28 along with the free community barbecue.
“Our magnificent fair is one that can’t be missed,” Weld County Fair Coordinator Jennifer Eastwood said. “It’s become a tradition not only for our 4-H and FFA exhibitors but for our entire community. Welcoming first-time guests and getting to share my passion for the fair by introducing them to everything there is to see and do is one of the greatest perks of my job!”
