The City of Greeley’s Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) Program will be hosting a resource fair at Island Grove’s Aven’s Village playground on Saturday, August 24 from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Aven’s Village, located at 1300 D Street, opened in October of 2016 and is an all-inclusive playground geared toward people of all ages and abilities. The resource fair will include vendor booths and community resources available in Greeley.
All ages are encouraged and welcome to attend. The free event will include local service providers serving individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Greeley Recreation’s AIR Program offers classes, social events, and recreational activities. Therapeutic recreation utilizes recreation activities to help address needs and teach life skills to people who could benefit from these activities.
“We offer a wide variety of day trips, sports leagues, and classes to provide a social outlet and an opportunity to stay engaged and active,” said Katelynn Johnson, AIR Coordinator. Activities are designed to be goal-oriented and intentional, focusing on physical, social and emotional domains. “We want all AIR participants to have fun in recreation programs.”
