Marge Taniwaki will speak about Manzanar, an American Concentration Camp where people of Japanese ancestry were imprisoned during World War II.  In the spring of 1942, 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry were forcibly removed from their homes and taken to 10 major concentration camps located in some of the most desolate areas of the United States.  Along with her extended family, California born US citizen Marge was sent to Manzanar, located near Death Valley in California.  Marge will speak about her memories of imprisonment as well as her research into the incarceration and its aftermath.
