On Thursday, September 26th at noon, Greeley Museums’ Manager Dan Perry will present “Teetotalers, Stuffed Shirts & Canoe Paddlers: Union Colony Letter Writers,” a survey of some individuals who wrote to Nathan Meeker in response to his publishing “The Call” in the New York Tribune in 1869. He will share his fascination with what the letters reveal and what the prospective Union Colony members said about themselves. The letters provide a snapshot into the thoughts of many Americans in the post-Civil War era, as well as a view into Meeker, as he made notes on nearly all the envelopes.
The Greeley Historic Preservation Commission presents the  2019 History Brown Bag series held generally on the 4th Thursday of each month from January through October. Admission is free and no reservations are required.
