For more than 100 years, the staff at Linn Grove Cemetery, on behalf of and in conjunction with various Weld County military organizations, has honored veterans with a formal Memorial Day ceremony.
The 2021 event begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 31. Community Members can attend the ceremony in person at Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 Cedar Ave., or view the program live on the City of Greeley’s YouTube channel, https://youtu.be/VJGUzO9vgZg.
Former Greeley City Councilperson, Don Feldhaus, will deliver this year’s keynote address. Feldhaus is a Gold Star family member of Army Spec. 4 Thomas V. Feldhaus, Killed-in-Action in October 1969 in Vietnam. In addition, City of Greeley Mayor John Gates and Weld County Commissioner Pro-Tem Scott James will be in attendance to make special proclamations at the event.  Chad Young will provide patriotic music and the Greeley Police Department Honor Guard, along with numerous veterans’ organizations, will participate in the annual ceremony. The program generally lasts about one hour.
Weather permitting, Linn Grove will post the Avenue of Flags, which consists of nearly 200 lost veterans donated casket flags along the main avenues of the grounds.
The program will proceed on the cemetery grounds, rain or shine.  Additional information on the program and Linn Grove is available at greeleygov.com/LinnGroveCemetery.
