Safe Cycling will give you the confidence to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. You will learn how to conduct bicycle safety checks, on-bike skills, and crash avoidance techniques. Safe Cycling is a course for cyclists of returning and experienced cyclists. Participants should be prepared to ride their bicycle as there is a riding portion of this class. A helmet and bicycle in good working condition are required. Packing a water bottle and snack is recommended. The class is designed for 13 years and older. The cost is $20 for each course.
The Safe Cycling class is split up in two sessions, Road Rules, and Road Skills.
Road Rules- April 17: This session is a lecture style course in the classroom. Learn how to ride safely and legally in traffic or on trails. Discuss the rules of the road related to cycling, how to conduct bicycle safety checks and how to fit and wear a helmet.
Road Skills-April 20: Learn on-bike handling skills and build confidence for riding with traffic on roads and trails. Practice crash avoidance techniques and handling skills, and how to conduct bicycle safety checks.
